Balloon

A balloon is a flexible bag normally filled with hot air or a gas. Balloon size and shape vary depending on design, use, and gas expansion within the envelope of the balloon. As balloons increase in size, internal and external structures are added to hold the shape of the balloon and to keep it from collapsing. Balloon use has been recorded as far back as the 2nd Century BC. The more common airborne type of controlled and uncontrolled balloons are listed below.

The Loy Krathong Buddhist festival in Thailand is celebrated on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar. The monsoon season is gone, the night sky is clear, and coolness fills the night air. Thousands of giant paper sky lanterns, named Kome Loy, are set free to rise into the night sky appearing as a galaxy of orange stars. As the paper on some of these sky lanterns start to burn, they appear as fireballs shooting across the sky.
